Mary Vilakazi, who has been tipped to take over from outgoing FirstRand CEO Alan Pullinger, says she expects to inherit a "strong ship" from her incumbent. She says her first priority is to protect what the group has built before driving a new strategy to diversify revenue beyond banking.
The 47-year-old Vilakazi, who has been the group's chief operating officer (COO) since her appointment in July 2018, is set to become the group's first black female CEO when Pullinger officially steps down on 1 April 2024.
