Energy giant Shell says green molecules – a cleaner alternative to displace petroleum and diesel, like solar and wind are doing to coal – can be the game changer that the world needs to get to zero carbon emissions.
Speaking at the company's annual Great Energy Debate, Shell director of integrated gas and new energies Maarten Wetselaar said one specific area where he thinks research and development (R&D) need to focus is green molecules like biofuels and hydrogen, as these energies are still too costly and difficult to roll out at large scale.
