The Eskom board said on Thursday it was "applying its mind and working towards a speedy resolution" to the appointment of a new CEO after the recommendation it made to Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan was turned back. 

It has been nine months since former CEO André de Ruyter gave notice of his resignation. For the past seven months, chief financial officer Calib Cassim has been acting in the position.
