Elderly couple gunned down while sleeping in their home

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli confirmed that they are investigating two counts of murder following an elderly couple, aged 64 and 76, was fatally shot inside their home at Ndakeni location in Flagstaff, on Thursday, May 2.

Nkohli said that their identities are yet to be released.

He said that information in police records indicates that an unknown man, who was armed with a firearm, entered their home and opened fire.

“The two bodies were declared dead at the scene.

"At the scene, police arrested a man (30) for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and the detectives are looking at the possibility of his involvement in the gruesome murder incident,” said Nkohli.

He added that the suspect is due to appear in the Flagstaff magistrate’s court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and with a possible of additional charges at the later stage.
