Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party founder Jabulani Khumalo has placed former president Jacob Zuma on precautionary suspension. This after Khumalo was himself expelled from the party by Zuma last week.

The internal tumult in the controversial new party is reminiscent of the implosions of the Congress of the People and Mamphela Ramphele's AgangSA - both parties collapsed due to internal fights shortly after contesting their first election.

The MK Party, however, seems to be locked in an internecine factional battle in the crucial weeks before its inaugural election.
