A young black woman from Leachville, a small area near Brakpan, is using the skills she acquired at university to give back to the community.
Marcia Monareng moved to Leachville at age 10 to live with her mother. Before then, she lived with her grandmother in KwaThema, who dedicated herself to community work. What she didn't realise was that her grandmother had planted tiny seeds that would reap through her and bloom fruit for the community.
"One of the qualities that she (Monareng's grandmother) displays is excelling in everything you do. When you are serving the community, you need to do it wholeheartedly," Monareng said.
