The Wynberg Magistrates' Court has withdrawn a case of fraud against troubled self-proclaimed millionaire Sandile Shezi after he paid back R200 000 he allegedly defrauded an investor.

Shezi did not arrive in court on Thursday as he was reported to be sick.

However, complainant Angela Mabena, who was in court told City Press that the businessman paid her the money he took from her in tranches of two R50 000 payments, R40 000 and the last transfer of R60 000 on Wednesday afternoon.

Mabena said:

I came to court today to withdraw my case against him because he paid me back all my money. He made the last payment yesterday so I have no case against him anymore.

In April, City Press reported that Shezi was nabbed in a movie-style manner at the same court after he had just made an appearance on another matter of defrauding a Johannesburg businessman of close to half a million rand.

In 2018, Mabena paid R200 000 to Shezi, hoping to invest in his crypto trading company for great returns.

Mabena's case withdrawal comes just weeks after another case against Shezi by a Johannesburg businessman Alan Ledwaba was also dropped after he also received his money back from the Forex trader.

Last year, a case of fraud was opened against the popular trader by Ledwaba who was allegedly defrauded of R500 000 he had invested in Shezi's Forex trading company.

On Thursday, Ledwaba said:

He has paid me all my money as well. I have since dropped the case I have against him. I can't divulge how much he paid me exactly or in which order, but he paid me following a mediation process in court, so our matter is finished.

Shezi was not immediately available for comment.

He made his claim to fame by boasting of his material gains and stating that he was the youngest self-made millionaire from Forex trading.

He owns a fleet of luxury cars, which include a Lamborghini Gallardo, Range Rover Velar, Ferrari California T, Maserati Grancabrio, Mercedes-Benz G-Class and a BMW i8.

He is known for travelling first class and goes on posh vacations abroad. He also owns a mansion at an exclusive private estate. Shezi’s company has offices in the plum suburbs of Umhlanga in Durban and Sandton in Johannesburg.

At the age of 23, Shezi was already reportedly a millionaire.
