Cape Town - PPC confirmed on Thursday that the local management of its Slurry plant and members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) have reached an agreement on wage negotiations.
The union embarked on a protected strike on Monday, October 16, having given notice on Friday last week.
The notice to strike was given after the parties engaged a CCMA commissioner, but they were not able to reach an agreement.
The parties resumed wage negotiations on Wednesday afternoon 18 October and reached and agreement on Thursday.
PPC management reiterated that the company gives fair and equitable pay and other benefits to all its employees.
"As a general principle, the company ensures that the salary increases are at least 1% above the prevailing CPI, and takes into consideration the affordability and sustainability of the business," it said in a statement.
