Johannesburg – When she’s not tending to patients at her clinic, Dr Boitumelo Phetla runs a business that empowers women by addressing eight areas of health and wellness.

Phetla holds an MBA degree from the Regenesys Business School and her Woman and Child Clinic in Embalenhle, Mpumalanga has a 100% HIV negative pass rate from mother to child. She was one of the speakers at the CONQA sport Women’s Day breakfast on August 12. CONQA Sport is a global consulting organisation which focuses on both sport and corporate initiaitives, much like Phetla’ s own business which takes a holistic approach to health and wellness.s

Conscious of the background of apartheid and oppression most previously disadvantaged people grew up with, part of what Phetla does in her business is to address the knowledge gap caused by the apartheid legacy. “I feel like a lot of people have not dealt with it [apartheid],” she said.
