Capitec recovers from system crash

Cape Town – Capitec Bank says it has recovered from a period of downtime on Monday morning.

The bank’s systems, including ATMs, mobile app and card swipes were offline for about two hours early on Monday, but were returned to normal.

Capitec increased its customer base from 6.2 million in 2015 to 7.3 million in 2016 and the bank delivered R3.2bn in after tax profit.

However, the bank soon restored its banking systems following the brief down time.
