Easter price pain might make you hot and cross: Woolies buns 60% pricier than 5 years ago

The real Easter hunt will come before the weekend, as consumers shop around for bargains following big price increases for traditional foods.

While prices vary across major supermarkets, consumers can expect to pay over 40% more for hot cross buns and chocolate than was the case five years ago.

Sky-high cocoa prices, which have more than doubled since the beginning of the year, are driving chocolate price increases, while egg and milk prices have also rocketed higher - hitting hot cross bun lovers.
