The government's first stab at drafting a National Artificial Intelligence (AI) plan has been slammed by experts who argue that it is repetitive, vague, error-ridden and assigns no responsibility for implementing any of its goals.
Earlier this month, the Department of Communications and Digital Technology (DCDT) released South Africa's AI Planning discussion document, which put forward a draft plan for how the country will make the most of the technology.
The provisions of the document are being sent to key stakeholders to receive feedback before it is put before the Cabinet.
