As South Africa grapples with ongoing load shedding, Russian energy giants Gazprom and Rosatom have said they were eager to come to the table and help mitigate the power crisis.
State-owned Rosatom and majority state-owned Gazprom hosted a panel at the Africa Energy Week Conference on Tuesday titled 'Powering Africa's future through collaborative energy solutions'.
Speaking at the panel, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho, Ilya Rogachev, said South Africa and Russia shared an "unwavering friendship" throughout their intertwined histories, and load shedding presented an opportunity for both countries to share knowledge and expertise within the energy field.
