Getting more households and businesses to rely on solar PV installations for power presents a challenge for the tax and budget system, says Treasury's acting director-general Ismail Momoniat.

Momoniat, on Wednesday, was speaking at the virtual Tax Indaba hosted by the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT).

He briefly commented on interventions for load shedding – such as solar PV installations. President Cyril Ramaphosa in July announced several interventions to address the energy crisis. Among these included encouraging more households and businesses to install rooftop solar, of which the excess energy could be sold back to Eskom.
