2014 wasn't a monumental year, though it was better than Covid-19 or Cape Town's drought.
It was the year in which two Malaysian Airlines planes were lost. Flight 370, carrying 239 people over the Gulf of Thailand, simply disappeared in March, and Flight 17 was shot down by a missile in Eastern Ukraine with 298 people on board in July. We learnt never to trust a Boeing 777 and that the premise of the TV series Lost could happen.
