Eastern Cape's MEC for education, Fundile Gade, expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of Professor Mlungiseleli Jadezweni, the chairperson of the Eastern Cape Advisory Council (ECEAC), who passed away on April 20 in East London.

According to a family member, Jadezweni passed away in Beacon Bay after battling a brief sickness.

Gade said that the Education sector will miss Jadezweni's robust contribution to driving the transformation of education across the country.

"His vast experience and passion for education led to his election as the Council's chairperson, a position he served with distinction from 2009 until his passing.

"Prof, as the late Jadezweni was affectionately known, also served as the chairperson of the Provincial Quality Teaching and Learning Campaign (QTLC) since the launch of the QTLC in 2012," Gade said.

Gade extended his condolences to Jadezweni's family and friends.

"We hope they find strength during this difficult time of their lives. We shall cherish the contribution of this gallant activist to the end," said Gade.
