The recent burglaries of state capture witnesses Themba Maseko and Johann van Loggerenberg show that state capture is not over. It is very much still with us, writes Pieter du Toit.
The release of Part One of the Zondo Commission's report has triggered quite an astounding series of events. There have been break-ins – within days of each other – at the homes of two important witnesses at the commission; former president Jacob Zuma has upped the ante in the legal war on Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo; and the ANC's anti-constitutional wing has launched a cynical offensive against the rule of law.
If anyone had any doubt about how far the state capture networks will go to not only keep those lines of extraction open, but to continue their assault on democracy and constitutionalism, there shouldn't be any now.
