DA leader John Steenhuisen wants Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka to investigate President Cyril Ramaphosa, claiming the ruling party wants to use taxpayer money to help it win votes.
In a statement on Sunday, Steenhuisen said his party would provide new evidence to support its claims that the ANC was abusing state funds for its own gain.
According to Steenhuisen, a leaked recording from an ANC national executive committee (NEC) meeting in early April revealed that the party's top brass, including Ramaphosa, instructed senior public office bearers to manipulate the public purse to pay for the ANC's election campaign.
