Energy regulator Nersa will argue before the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria it considers poor households when determining how much of an increase Eskom was entitled to recover from consumers.
Nersa was hauled before court this week by the DA in an application that seeks to change how it determines tariff increases for electricity.
It determines the price to be charged for electricity by Eskom, and the entity applies to it yearly to recover revenue for generating electricity.
