Acting Magistrate Stanley Jacobs, who presided over the Investigating Directorate's (ID) multimillion-rand corruption case against former Eskom CEO Matshela Koko, should have disclosed his business dealings with the power utility, says Mbekezeli Benjamin of Judges Matter.

Benjamin's reaction follows a News24 exclusive report revealing that Jacobs, who ultimately dismissed ID's case against Koko and others, failed to disclose that BEP African Consulting, in which he is a director and shareholder, was paid R14.3 million by Eskom between December 2011 and July 2016 – a time when Koko and another of his co-accused, Frans Sithole, held senior positions at the power utility.
