The R107.5 million Optimum mine corruption case has hit a snag because one of the accused had not paid his lawyers.
The trial was supposed to commence on Monday but had to be postponed to November to allow the former deputy director-general in the Department of Mineral Resources, Joel Raphela, to pay his legal team.
The other accused in the case are Gupta stalwart and former Tegeta exploration and resources director Ronica Ragavan, as well as former Optimum Coal Mine trustee Pushpaveni Govender.
