City of Cape Town officials were grilled by Parliament over the relocation of 800 households who occupied the Metrorail Central Line in Philippi to a piece of land alongside the R300 route.
The City and the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) briefed Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) on Tuesday about the relocation of illegal dwellers on the railway reserve between Philippi and Langa.
The City's Mayco member for spatial planning and environment, Eddie Andrews, told the committee that the land where the occupiers have been relocated to has been "inappropriately rezoned".
