A multidisciplinary team comprising Gauteng and North West SAPS, as well as private security companies, rescued a kidnapped man and recovered the ransom.
The 23-year-old man was kidnapped outside a nightclub in Stilfontein in the early hours of Saturday morning, allegedly by armed men driving a Nissan vehicle.
Police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said the North West Provincial Drug Task Team, hostage negotiators, Crime Intelligence, West Rand flying squad, the air wing, Carletonville K9, Fochville police, Spectrac Security and BIU Security cooperated to arrest two people for kidnapping, extortion and unlawful possession of a firearm on Sunday.
