Former Miss World Anneline Kriel and her husband, Peter Bacon, have been living on Mauritius for nine years – so when lockdown started in March they hunkered down and used their time to finally explore this jewel of an island in the Indian Ocean.

“A friend who’s lived here for more than 30 years says it’s like the Mauritius of the old days – like it was 20 years ago, when it was quieter with fewer tourists and just a few boats on the ocean,” Anneline tells YOU.

“My husband and I and our dog family are doing well. The fact that we were unable to travel brought us much closer to our dogs.”
