Cape Town - The annual Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS) Ready to Run (RTR) Sale will be held on Friday 23 November at the Durbanville racecourse, with gallops preceding the event on Thursday 22 November.
The sale is followed by the CTS Ready to Run Stakes, set to take place at Kenilworth on 24 November, with a R2.5m stake on offer to qualifying CTS graduates.
The Ready to Run Sale provides potential buyers with an opportunity to purchase a schooled and pre-trained 2-year old, foregoing the year-long wait buyers need to endure after purchasing a yearling.
In addition, the gallops offer a preview of how the horse moves at full gallop, as well as the opportunity for timing over a few furlongs.
“Viewing a horse in stride can sway a would-be bidder by providing a more holistic perspective of the horse’s ability, along with the obligatory scrutinising of pedigree and conformation,” said Wéhann Smith, CEO of CTS.
