South Africans will have to endure another day of load shedding on Wednesday, with Eskom still battling to repair broken power generating units.
Stage 2 load shedding will take place between 09:00 and 22:00.
"Apologies for the inconvenience that this is causing you, South Africa," tweeted the power utility's spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe.
Stage 2 allows for up to 2000 megawatts to be cut from the national grid.
Eskom had hoped that repair work, maintenance and the replenishment of diesel and water stocks over the weekend would help avoid electricity rationing in the week.
But this has not been the case, with load shedding taking place on both Monday and Tuesday.
