NEWS

The National Union of Metal Workers of SA (Numsa) has written to the SA Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu), informing the latter of the ultimate expulsion of its president, Ruth Ntlokotse, from the union, following her unsuccessful appeal. Additionally, it suggests that the federation might have to remove Ntlokotse from her position as federation president as its constitution dictates.

The letter seen by City Press, which was sent to Saftu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi from Numsa's general secretary Irvin Jim, dated July 10, comes after Ntokotse's bid to appeal her expulsion was denied by the union’s dedicated committee last week Friday in Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.
