AWARD-WINNING rapper Duncan faces yet another setback as DJ Tira’s Afrotainment recording studios were broken into on Wednesday night, 24 April.
The break-in resulted in the theft of all equipment, including hard drives containing Duncan's unreleased new music from his upcoming album Incwadi Yezono.
Duncan, born Sphamandla Mbambo, expressed his frustration as he believes bad luck is following him.
He said this was the third instance involving his unreleased songs have been stolen during studio equipment thefts.
The 28-year-old KwaMashu-born rapper told Daily Sun he was grateful to God and his ancestors that some of his music was saved in a backroom studio in his hometown.
He revealed that four of his new songs were among the stolen items.

Due to the high demand for the Afrotainment main studio, he often records in local backroom studios to capture the authentic "kasi vibe".
"I want to feel the kasi vibe now. I'm using kasi studios to record my music and only use Afrotainment's main studio when I'm recording a song featuring top musicians because I can’t take them to small kasi studios," Duncan, who scooped the Best Remix at Metro FM Music Awards in 2014, said.
"I won’t mention the top musicians now but hope to release my album around June."
He said the album is a collaboration with top musicians, whose names he chose not to disclose.
Reflecting on past incidents, Duncan recalled the theft of his work prior to the release of his first album, Street Government, in 2013, which led to the album being leaked.
In addition, almost three years ago, his unreleased music for the album Slogan Sekasi was stolen from Scelo Gowane studio during an armed robbery.
"Equipment with my work was stolen before its release and that resulted in my album being leaked. I was hurt because I released my debut album when many people already heard it, especially in KwaMashu."
Despite these challenges, Duncan remains thankful that he still has most of his work and is determined to move forward.
