THE North Gauteng High Court, during the trial for the murder of former Bafana Bafana star Senzo Meyiwa, heard there are plans to subpoena singer Kelly Khumalo and music producer Sello Chicco Twala.

This development was revealed on Monday, 22 April, by Thulani Mngomezulu, the lawyer for accused one - Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya

However, state prosecutor George Baloyi said while Twala is on the witness list, Khumalo will not be called to testify.

"I will request that Kelly Khumalo be subpoenaed,” Mngomezulu announced.

When asked if Khumalo was on the state's witness list, Baloyi confirmed, “No, we don't intend to call her."

Mngomezulu also intends to subpoena Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza.

The court was presented with a statement from Senzo's brother, Sifiso Meyiwa, alleging that Khoza disclosed to him that Senzo was accidentally killed by Longwe Twala, Chicco's son, during a dispute, contradicting the robbery narrative.

Baloyi countered by mentioning Khoza's statement that disputes this claim.

Further testimony came from a healer, Nompilo Sangweni, who claimed Khumalo sought her help after Meyiwa's murder, expressing suicidal thoughts and later seeking a cleansing for bad luck.

Sangweni also recounted a session with Khumalo, Zandi, and Longwe Twala, during which she sensed a "shadow of a dead person" on Longwe.

"He agreed and he told me a dead person was even strangling him in his sleep, but he can't say," said the statement read by interpreter.

Five men are accused of Meyiwa's 2014 murder at the Khumalo family home, and they've all pleading not guilty.
