National Treasury will not be expanding the solar PV tax incentive for households to include batteries and inverters, members of Parliament heard.
Treasury officials on Wednesday briefed the Standing Committee on Finance on its responses to some of the proposals made by the public for various tax matters, among them being the solar PV tax incentive.
Earlier this week, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said that efforts were under way to advocate for the incentive to be extended to include batteries and inverters. He said this would help boost the rollout of solar PV installations. Since July 2022, the solar rooftop installations in the country have more than doubled to 4 500MW.
