UN body may withdraw support from the Limpopo industrial park

The Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone in Limpopo is facing another obstacle as a special unit within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has recommended that the body's South African office withdraw support for the project.

This is given the reputational risk the project poses to the UNDP, preliminary findings show.

The matter stems from a complaint lodged with the Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU) in 2022 by the non-profit environmental justice organisation Earthlife Africa Johannesburg.
