Econ Oil and Energy, a former supplier of fuel oil to Eskom's power plants, has asked the Competition Tribunal to help get it off of the utility's blacklist, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation by the Competition Commission.
As was argued in front of the tribunal in Pretoria on Monday, Econ Oil has been banned from supplying Eskom for 10 years, following allegations of corruption and unethical conduct against the company.
Eskom's refusal to do business with the company comes amid allegations that it sought to influence procurement processes improperly, and allegedly failed to cooperate with an audit process.
