Zandaux, an Africa-focused business-to-business e-commerce platform based on a similar model to Chinese behemoth Alibaba, has officially launched in Johannesburg, with ambitious plans to foster trade and economic integration on the continent.
Brazzaville-born founder and CEO Franck Obambi Ngatse told News24 that the uptake of the platform by South African vendors had been strong since Zandaux's soft launch in Johannesburg in August last year. This refers to a restricted launch prior to its introduction to the broader public.
So far, a total of about 1 000 local businesses have joined the four-year-old startup's platform, which also operates from Nairobi, Lagos and Cairo.
