MTN Group, Africa's largest mobile operator by subscribers, expects the macroeconomic problems in many of the 19 countries where it operates to persist through the year.

These include elevated inflationary pressures, lack of foreign currency and domestic civil strife in countries like Ghana, Nigeria and Sudan, which make up the bulk of its operations outside of South Africa.
