The whistleblower who alleged that Mediclinic was manipulating patients' bills in order to save the hospital group money had incorrectly cast aspersions on legitimate business practices, according to an independent probe.
The whistleblower, who claimed to be a former Mediclinic employee, sent an email to more than 50 principal officers of some of South Africa's most prominent medical schemes last year, detailing information about their experiences at six Mediclinic hospitals.
Steven Powell, head of law firm ENSafrica's forensics practice, found no evidence of intentional manipulation following his investigation into the allegations.
