Transnet has admitted it is not "not out of the woods" yet at the Durban port, despite recent efforts to reduce congestion and delays.
According to Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), an equivalent of 55 219 twenty-foot containers have been moved at the port at Pier 2 within the last two weeks.
But, according to latest statistics from Transnet's Container Recovery Plan, 14 vessels remain at anchorage at the port. One vessel is at anchorage at Pier 1, while nine vessels are at anchorage at Pier 2, and four vessels at the Durban Point Terminal.
