Once an important method of communication, letters are now quickly vanishing in South Africa.
There were only 250 million letters delivered in South Africa between September 2022 and the same month last year. This is a 58% fall in volume from the 610 million letters sent over the same time period in 2018/19.
These figures were presented in the latest state of the ICT sector report published by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa). The communications regulator surveyed a host of companies in the ICT and logistics industries to collect data.
