The Labour Appeals Court has heard that funding public sector wage bill increases will negatively impact social programmes.

The R37.8 billion National Treasury will need to pay wage increases will have to come from programmes meant to support the poor and vulnerable, a court has heard.

Public sector unions finally got a chance to air their grievances over the government reneging on a deal to give wage increases this year - the final year of a three-year wage agreement.
