August marks Women’s Month, where we recognise the important role that women have played, and continue to play in South Africa. This year’s theme is: “Generation Equality: Realising Women’s Rights for an Equal Future” and links to global efforts to achieve gender equality in all spheres of life by 2030.
This must include the agricultural industry, where women play a critical role. Over half of all small-scale and subsistence farmers in South Africa are women, who form the backbone of many rural communities.
