Though famed for her villainous character as Thembeka Shezi on e.tv drama Scandal!, Masasa Mbangeni is breaking the mould to prove she is a ride-or-die kind of girl in Netflix's Heart of the Hunter. In an interview with News24, she shares more about the positive portrayal of black love and her break from the silver screen.

Famed for her villainous character as Thembeka Shezi on e.tv's weeknight drama, Scandal!, Masasa Mbangeni showcases a softer side as she breaks the mould to let her on-screen beau Zuko Khumalo (Bonko Khoza) take the lead as he strives to protect his family when his past unexpectedly comes knocking in Netflix's all-new thriller action film, Heart of the Hunter. Mbangeni proves she is the ultimate ride-or-die as Khumalo fights for the country and his family's freedom.

Adapted from author Deon Meyer's novel of the same name, the nearly two-hour-long film follows Khumalo, who is on the run from the Presidential Intelligence Agency (PIA) as he races toward information that could bring down a presidential candidate. While the PIA attempts to get rid of Khumalo, whom it thinks is easy prey, his girlfriend Malimbe (Mbangeni) stays behind to care for things at home.
