MultiChoice is testing power bank options to keep decoders and TV sets on during load shedding and will very soon bring an "X" – not Elon Musk's social media platform or Checkers' Xtra Savings – to DStv subscribers' screens.

MultiChoice announced its annual price increases for DStv subscribers in South Africa coming into effect from 1 April on Monday, but behind the scenes, the pay-TV company is acutely aware that TV viewers have growing options and is working on keeping its pay-TV customers as attached to its service and content as possible.

That includes testing plans on how to best keep DStv decoders and TV sets on during South Africa's ongoing load shedding – especially during primetime.
