It was a special event for businesses in and around Hermanus at the Hermanus Bowling Club. From 5 to 16 February they were clearly “on the ball” at the annual Business League tournament.
“We had 42 teams competing from various businesses in Hermanus,” said Lizette Anderson, tournament organiser, “and the aim of this tournament is, firstly, to promote the sport of bowls solely for the business fraternity in the Hermanus/Overberg region of the Western Cape.
“It also aims to foster an atmosphere that encourages business networking and social awareness in the greater Hermanus area.”
The teams battled it out on the bowling greens, and the top three teams in a division – as before – received prize money and gold, silver and bronze ribbon awards. Said Anderson: “Other trophies included the Conrad Oosthuisen Spirit Trophy and the KVV du Plooy rising start trophy given to a team that has shown the most improvement year on year or a brand new team that has surprised us with their first performance.”
