The reason that Siya Kolisi's example of leadership is so important in other fields besides rugby is that we not only need a more cooperative world to solve issues like climate change; we also face another crossroads in South Africa where we can win or lose the future of this country in the blink of an eye, writes Clem Sunter.
In my previous article in July this year for News24, I rated the leadership flag as the second most important one to watch in defining the future of this planet. History has demonstrated that the human species has always needed good leaders to oversee and encourage the technological, economic and social advances made through the ages. Civilizations and nations have come and gone broadly as a result of the quality of their leaders at the time.
Sadly, I also came to the conclusion that today’s global leaders are a totally disappointing bunch. They simply do not come up to scratch when it comes to creating a better future for the vast majority of human beings alive today. It is why we exist in such a divided world with so much negativity. We will have to wait and see whether the next generation of leaders will get the world back on track.
