Under-fire National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, whose private home was raided as part of a R2.3 million corruption investigation, should be given the "benefit of the doubt".
This is according to ANC chief whip Pemmy Majodina, who called for calm regarding the situation.
"We have seen that there was a raid at the honourable Speaker's house this morning [on Tuesday]. The Hawks are an agency that is separate from us as Parliament; let's allow the due process to unfold. At the moment, we don't know what their findings are and it would be premature for us to comment negatively or positively as [the ANC caucus].
