Eleven fishermen are missing at sea after a vessel sank 30 nautical miles off the coast of Hout Bay, with a massive search operation launched to find them.
In a statement on Saturday, the NSRI said a mayday call was intercepted on Friday afternoon, and that rescue craft and other fishing vessels had scrambled to respond.
Nine crewmen were rescued from a life raft and were brought to shore unharmed.
