A former Free State government official insists that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has no hope of convicting her in its first state capture trial – and says it must withdraw charges against her or face a potential malicious prosecution lawsuit.
Former Free agriculture department head Limakatso Moorosi’s legal threats came as defence lawyers in the Nulane trial have questioned the authenticity and admissibility of copied documents used as evidence against them, suggested that police had told witnesses what to say, and accused other witnesses of colluding in their testimony.
All the accused standing trial in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein remain adamant that they have done nothing unlawful – but Moorosi is the first to demand that the State drop its case against her.
