Financial services group Sanlam has suspended one of its employees after he allegedly swore at a pro-Palestine woman and damaged her car in an apparent road rage incident in Cape Town.

In a brief statement on Tuesday, the group said: "With immediate effect, Sanlam has suspended an employee in light of allegations of an altercation with a public member. We do not condone behaviour inconsistent with our company standards and values. A thorough, fair and independent investigation is under way."

The employee, who has since been identified as Adam Bulkin, a head of global portfolios at Sanlam, has deactivated all his social media accounts since the incident.
